I have curly hair, which I love but every now and then, I get the urge to style it straight. While it’s doable, getting a sleek, shiny look can be a challenge at times. My older set will find its way to our guest bathroom soon but I’ll definitely retain my diffuser attachment.

There are different Drive Mode functions that you can use. As for me, I opted for Normal, the standard condition, which is just fine for casual driving.

My itinerary for that day consisted of brunch and catching up with some friends. Before full-on jamming to Taylor Swift with the car’s 9-speaker JBL sound system, I dolled up for a bit, the sassy female in me grateful for the illuminated vanity mirror on my side of the car.

We opted to use the sunroof so we could turn the natural warm sunlight into our selfie light, occasionally giving in to our vanities, while watching athletes run around the obstacle park, and admiring an iconic bridge.

As someone who underwent ovarian surgery a few months ago, one of the things I learned from that experience is how reproductive health is often overlooked.

Usual symptoms like bloating, stomach cramps, and tiredness can be easily dismissed as “common” during periods. But these should always be monitored.

In fact, one out of ten women has Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), a health condition which can possibly affect fertility rate, menstrual cycles, changes in physical appearance, mental health, among other factors.

And yet, a huge percentage of women remains undiagnosed.

The Apple Women’s Study

This prevalent problem prompted Apple to create a digital study. It aims to gain a deeper understanding about the menstrual cycle and its relationship with a person’s overall health.

The Apple Women’s Study was launched in 2019 and is accessible via Apple Research App. It was done in collaboration with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS).

Anyone living in the US who has ever menstruated can participate in the study. They simply need to download the app in their iPhone and sign up for the research.

With the help of period tracker Cycle Tracking on Apple Watch, or Cycle Tracking in the Health app on iPhone, participants’ menstrual cycle data and survey answers from the study will be analyzed, and help inform the development of innovative products for menstrual cycles, risk assessment, and screening of gynecologic conditions.

New Preliminary Findings

Harvard Chan School researchers used survey data from the Apple Women’s Health Study to advance the scientific understanding around the relationship between persistently abnormal periods, PCOS, and endometrial hyperplasia and cancer.

Looking at a preliminary analysis cohort of over 50,000 study participants, the study team found:

• 12 percent of participants reported a PCOS diagnosis. Participants with PCOS had more than four times the risk of endometrial hyperplasia (precancer of the uterus). And more than 2.5 times the risk of uterine cancer.
• 5.7 percent of participants reported their cycles taking five or more years to reach cycle regularity after their first period. Participants in that group had more than twice the risk of endometrial hyperplasia. More than 3.5 times the risk of uterine cancer, compared to those who reported their cycles took less than one year to reach regularity.

Previous interim updates

The Apple Women’s Health Study team has previously shared a number of other interim research updates that highlight how large-scale, longitudinal research on menstruation can help advance the science around this topic.

• Research published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology focuses on cycle deviations, like irregular or prolonged periods, which can be a sign of underlying conditions including PCOS, fibroids, malignancies, or infections. The study found cycle deviations were found in 16.4 percent of the study population. Black participants had a 33 percent higher prevalence of infrequent periods compared to white, non-Hispanic participants. Asian participants had a higher prevalence of irregular periods.
• Demonstrating just how common menstrual symptoms really are, researchers found the most frequently tracked symptoms were abdominal cramps, bloating, and tiredness, all of which were experienced by more than 60 percent of participants who logged symptoms. More than half of the participants who logged symptoms reported acne and headaches. Some less widely recognized symptoms, like diarrhea and sleep changes, were also tracked by 37 percent of participants logging symptoms.

After analyzing over 125,000 menstrual cycles, researchers found that participants experienced slightly longer menstrual cycles for cycles in which they received a COVID-19 vaccine. But participants’ cycles typically returned to prevaccination lengths the cycle after getting a vaccine.

How about data privacy?

According to Apple, participants can control the data types shared with the study. There’s transparency into how the data will be used for the purposes of the study.

What’s in it for users?

With iOS 16 and watchOS 9, the Cycle Tracking app can inform users if their logged cycle history from the previous six months shows a pattern of irregular periods, infrequent periods, prolonged periods, or persistent spotting. 

Users are also able to learn about the Cycle Deviation detected. They can then export the last 12 months of their cycle history as a PDF to share with their provider.

By participating in Apple Women’s Health Study, women can actively monitor their cycle and common symptoms.

In this way, participants contribute to a great cause which can create more reproductive health awareness and help other women understand their period cycles better.

Lastly, like any retrograde season, it’s a cue from the planets and the stars to slow down. We’re all rushing from one point to another, and we’re moving extremely fast. Planets spin backward to remind us that we need to look back and slow down to appreciate how far we’ve come, and what we’ve been doing with our lives, and catch up on what we missed. While the wall mount is a great way to store your Dyson vacuum, I personally prefer the Docking Station. Along with the wand clip, I’m able to neatly store my favorite accessories in one place.

Dyson’s latest release in the floor care department is arguably the most intelligent and powerful cordless vacuum in the market today. The suction has improved and is now at 240 Air Watts. Thanks to a Piezo Sensor, the V15’s screen will also tell you the kind of particles it’s picking up in your home grouped by size. This is something that people will allergies will definitely be thankful for. However, the numbers aren’t just there as a party trick or merely for information. There’s a practical use for it. As the V15 detects – pun intended – the particles, it also adjusts the suction accordingly. Detection is done up to 15,000 times per second. This allows for the adjustment of the suction power on Auto Mode to be quick and intuitive. Now that’s nifty.

The right accessories and attachments for your Dyson V15

The V15 Detect also comes with a whole slew of attachments and accessories. Admittedly, seeing the range of tools and thinking of all the things you can do with them are two of the things that really get me excited when getting a new vacuum. I love how you get multi-use pieces as well as task-specific ones. 

The Digital Motorbar or the V15’s main cleaning head now comes with an anti-tangle comb that clears hair from the brush bar. This is something I longed for vacuums to have as detangling hair from brushes and rollers isn’t something to look forward to. It’s no gimmick either. My hair’s been getting longer and I shed almost as much as our corgi. We tested it here at home and it actually works. 

The laser works well even during day time, showing all the fur and microdust on our hard floor. The culprit, our Welsh Corgi Pembroke Juancho, isn’t very happy about the exposure of his crime scene.

The V15 — both models — come with the Laser Slim Fluffy Cleaner Head which is perfect for seeing microdust and things you may just miss on hard floors. The Hair Screw Tool is the upgrade of the Mini Motorized Tool. It has the power of its predecessor and the anti-tangle technology of the Digital Motorbar. It’s perfect for cleaning upholstery, mattresses, and even in your car.

You also get attachments that were available in previous models like the Crevice Tool for those narrow, hard to reach places, Combination Tool, Mini Soft Dusting Brush, and the Stubborn Dirt Brush. The vacuum still comes with a wall mount where your charger can go through, ensuring tidier storage.

The HEPA model comes with a built-in dusting and crevice tool that hides inside the wand when not in use. It seems like a minor addition but makes it much easier to switch from full vacuum to handheld. Extra attachments like the Low-Reach Adaptor makes cleaning under beds and sofas a breeze and the Fabric and Mattress tool for your in-home cleaning. This frees up your Hair Screw Tool for your car.

But what I’m really looking forward to is the launch of the Dyson Pet Groom tool here in the Philippines. Set to arrive in early 2023, this piece is a game changer for pet owners. Living with a corgi means having to deal with shedding all year round. We also have to hoover every single day or else we’ll be dealing with fur tumbleweeds throughout our flat which gather more dust and allergens. The new Pet Groom Tool is a brush that you can attach to the main body of your V15. With 364 bristles angled at 35°, you’re able to remove loose fur and dander from your pet. Without hurting them, of course. 

Filtering microdust with the Dyson V15

Dyson vacuums have always been pretty idiot-proof. It’s a piece of technology that marries form and substance — looking great while packing a lot of power for a cordless vacuum. I’ve always loved how Dyson vacuums don’t use bags. Clearing the bin is easy — hold it over the bin and pull the side handle down. Less waste makes it kinder to the environment. 

The V15 also comes with 5-stages of advanced filtration, capturing 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. You’re not only cleaning your home but the air around you as well. There’s no need to keep buying filters and produce more waste because all you have to do is regularly take off the filter, place it under running water to clean, let it dry overnight and put it back. This works for both the regular and HEPA filters.

A real time count of the particles allows the vacuum to adjust suction power on its own on Auto Mode.

Sure, the V15 is a tad heavier if you compare it to the Omniglide and the V12 slim. However, it’s is a more powerful machine and runs longer. At 60 minutes, I’m able to deep clean most of our two-bedroom home. I’ve owned the V11 Absolute Extra Pro (a bigger V11 released in Germany) since 2019 and I’d say there’s not much difference in weight. I’ve enjoyed the power I got from V11 and always regarded it as my favorite vacuum, thinking that it’s hard to top its suction power as far as cordless vacuums go without making it too heavy. I was actually surprised that the V15 was able to achieve just that.

What’s left to improve?

While I’m absolutely smitten by the V15, here’s what I would love to see in the next upgrades. A laser on the Digital Motorbar would be great so that we can also see microdust and hair that tends to blend with the color of our carpets. 

Some people online have complained about the lack of a trigger lock. This means you have to keep your finger on the trigger to keep the vacuum running. I think this is more of a question of preference. I don’t mind having a trigger lock as an option but I rarely used it in my older vacuums. For those who really think it can be an issue for them, the V12 does come with a start and stop button instead of a trigger.

The Low Reach adaptor makes cleaning under furniture a breeze. Its counterpart, the Up-Top adaptor is great for high areas – above cabinets and even the top parts of your ceiling fans by attaching the soft brush.

Price points

The V15 Detect Absolute comes in two variants — V15 Detect Absolute and V15 Detect Absolute HEPA. The main difference is the filter and the colors. The former is in sprayed yellow and nickel and the latter is in a combination of sprayed gold and iron with the HEPA filter coming in a lovely shade of aqua.

The V15 Detect Absolute HEPA variant retails for PhP54,900 and comes with two extra tools (Fabric and Mattress tool and Low-Reach Adaptor) as well as its hidden dusting and crevice tool inside the wand.

The V15 Detect Absolute, meanwhile, is slightly cheaper at PhP50,900. Both models are now available at Dyson stores in the Philippines as well as their official online stores on Lazada and Shopee.

At a launch event at their Global Flagship Store in Makati on the 11th of November, the team unveiled the latest pieces that come in neutrals and beautiful earth tones. From olive and mustard to a natural beige and the usual blacks, the cool-toned hues are perfect for this time of year. While they’re quite on trend at the moment, the colors and silhouettes are also versatile enough to be worn well beyond the current season.

Quite the showstopper is the 3D Soufflé Yarn Bustier. It can be worn by itself or over the Heattech Wool Blend Turtle Neck or even the Heattech Sleeveless Top. My second visit to the island that never sleeps has been the most relaxed, calm, and spontaneous trip I’ve ever had.

Packing light allowed me to enjoy every moment, since I didn’t have to consider bringing bulky stuff like a mirrorless camera, tripod, and anything that might feel like a liability — which is what happened during my first visit.

Having a reliable smartphone that can last a whole day at its maximum usage is such a real game-changer. It may be for taking photos, updating my social media, and using maps for directions. The first-ever Christmas advert entitled Lola was released in 2020. In the first installment, fans were introduced to Nicole and her grandmother, Lola. We watched how their bond deepened as festive traditions were passed down through generations.

It was followed by The Stepdad a year later, following a grown-up Nicole and her own children, Max and Ella. The children welcomed stepdad Mike into their home.

A special storybook was highlighted at the story, celebrating the magic that small moments — reading, in this case — that was created when families do it together.

Both adverts reached over 184 million views worldwide combined.

The Gift

In the last installment, The Gift tackles another festive period coinciding with a touching arrival of a new baby. It demonstrates the power of sibling relationships. This is seen through the eyes of the youngest child Ella as shhe adjusts to the changing family dynamic.

A glow-in-the-dark Mickey Mouse soft toy was highlighted, connecting both past, present, and future in the story. The elder brother, Max, was first shown giving his younger sister Ella the Mickey Mouse toy to comfort her at night. In The Gift, Ella gifted the soft toy to her newborn sibling at their first meet.

Power and portability made handy

Freelancing offers a very flexible lifestyle as long as you make sure all the work gets done. To get my creative juices flowing,I like exploring new places to get inspiration for fresh ideas. That means, portability is an important consideration for the gadgets I use for work. 

The newest Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbonis ultra lightweight (968grams to be exact) and ultra-slim (14.mm thin), making it super handy. It  also easily fits my 13-inch handbag along with my other things.

What’s most impressive is how much power it packs despite its petite frame. Like the earlier version of the device we reviewed nearly two years ago, this one’s also an Intel® Evo certified  machine. Display that’s easy on the eyes

I find early mornings to be my least productive hours. So, to help me get through them, I check my email and phone messages while having a quick brunch. It helps that the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon’s PureSight Display makes skimming through my inbox easy on the eyes. The laptop has the usual TÜV Rheinland low-blue light certification which the brand achieved through the Eye Care Mode feature that reduces the blue light emitted by the screen. This goes a long way in protecting our eyes.

The display also has a silky smooth feel and flow to it. The 90Hz refresh rate on the 2.5K (2,560 x 1,600) screen is just lovely to interact with. It really helps make scrolling through web pages and documents feel smoother. The aspect ratio (16:10) is just about the sweet spot for working, helping boost my productivity even further. 

Practicality and the ‘lifestyle’ aesthetic collide

My energy usually peaks mid-day so this is when I usually set online meetings and presentations. I enjoyed the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon’s anti-glare matte finish display because even in bright sunlight, I experienced no issues with my face reflecting back at me. It also helps that it has up to 400 nits of brightness making the screen visible even in brighter environments.

The matte moon-white color is stunning and complements all my other things. I feel a little extra presentable during meetings because of its minimalist design.

While I typically stop working at 4:30PM, I don’t shut down my laptop just yet. I often check back in, respond to emails, and sometimes get back on the laptop to do a little more work before calling it a day. I’m stunned at how quickly Yoga Slim 7i Carbon switches on the moment you flip the lid with no need to press any button.While the device doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, it is equipped with Windows Hello face-recognition using the webcam.

Having to work at different locations, it also helps that Lenovo has thought about privacy and security. One of my favorite features on the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is the Smart Presence Detection. Essentially, it knows whether I’m still looking at the laptop or not. When I need to step away to get my refreshment fix, the display automatically locks and it also unlocks just as easily  when it knows I’m done going AFK.

Durability and flexibility assurance

The Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is a barely-there laptop, perfect for those who have to carry their laptop around all day. Lenovo says it offers military-grade toughness, too. This is based on the nine tests that the company has undertaken, including drops from a 76cm height, dust-resistance and the laptop’s ability to withstand extreme temperatures. Impressive stuff. 

While bigger can be better for others, I prefer lighter. Even a well-designed smaller, lighter laptop has its struggles somewhat to shift heat over a well-designed larger one. So yes, there is at least a slight performance hit related to this laptop’s design. 

With the 3-Year Lenovo Premium Care and 3-Year Accidental Damage Protection that also come with every purchase, you won’t have to worry about taking your device to service centers should you encounter problems since Lenovo offers 24/7 chat and on-site support.

Hassle-free, smooth workflow anywhere

The Lenovo Slim 7i Carbon seems like an ideal choice for those who want a reliable hybrid work computer. It’s small, lightweight and has plenty of power to let you complete most everyday work tasks. 

On top of that, it’s also a stylish yet minimal  device that fits nicely into most working (and non-working) environments. Based on my limited hands-on time with the device, it’s a solid machine for modern-day workers including myself.

I get a lot of “what does a freelancer’s day really looks like?” so here’s a glimpse of my day. I usually adjust my schedule depending on what’s on my plate. Portability is so important to me especially when working outside. Thankfully, i get to work with the newest Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon.

I bring this anywhere when i decide to settle in for a few hours of work. It’s super handy and ultra slim. It fits in my 13-inch handbag. It’s tiny but has all the power that i need! It’s designed with an emphasis on portable productivity, just how i like it.

I find early morning time to be my less productive hours. I just check my email and messages while having a quick brunch. I have most of my energy during mid-day and this is the time when i usually set meetings and presentations.

It has a compact 13-inch QHD resolution lay-flat display. And not just that, look how stunning it is with its moon-white color. Really love it!

I do more content editing in the evening. For some reason, the internet connection is much faster during this time.

While bigger can be better, i prefer lighter. As they say, good things come in small packages. The yoga slim 7i carbon is tiny but powerful and it’s perfect for my life as a freelancer.

With its long battery life and innovative features, i’m not worried about my efficiency despite juggling multiple tasks.

Having the right laptop for what i do means getting optimum results. It combines peak performance, ultra-portability, and smarter features. With it, i’m pretty sure i can slay any task that comes my way.

Meanwhile, dela Fressange returns to the idea of the uniform, creating classic pieces with a modern feel that one can wear over and over again. And who says florals are only for spring? A long-sleeved, collared dress in one of dela Fressange’s signature French blues features red and white flowers.

The UniqloU line is coming up with a collection of genderless essentials. Outerwear in boxy silhouettes and roomy proportions that would look flattering on just about anyone. The U Pocketable Long Coat in a neutral camel shade is a minimalist’s dream come true.

For their graphic T-shirt (UT) line, Uniqlo is re-launching a collection from its releases over the past two decades. This, in recognition of their timeless appeal.

UT was first launched in 2003 and as the line nears its 20th year anniversary, we’ll also be reunited with well-loved designs we will now have a chance of owning again. Shirts that feature art from Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat are among the 18 designs that are making a comeback in stores.

But then, realme reached out to (hopefully) change my mind. Enter, the realme Pad X.

First impressions

When the realme Pad X fell into my lap, I was initially impressed with the sleek aluminum alloy body design. I wished they had more color options (realme currently offers two: Glacier Blue and Glowing Grey), although this blue colorway looks elegant.

The button placements were kind of confusing at first, especially coming from a phone layout but it doesn’t take too long to get used to.

There are four speaker grilles on the top and bottom (if you’re in portrait mode). I got excited to use it, especially when I saw that the audio is equipped with the famous Dolby Atmos technology.

Workout buddy

I love doing home workouts. I usually start my mornings with a yoga practice from one of my favorite YouTube channels; Yoga With Adriene using my personal laptop.

Setting up a laptop seems a little tedious to do first thing in the morning, so there are days when I slack off and skip my exercise.

When I started to do my morning routine using the realme Pad X, I noticed that I was able to stay consistent even during busy days.

The realme Pad X is very light and easy on the hands with its 7.1mm Ultra Slim Design. It doesn’t take too long to set it up and position a little above my yoga mat. In fact, it can be easily placed anywhere wherever the best angle is.

Perfect for creative hobbyists and multitaskers

During my downtime, I take conscious effort to learn new hobbies. I recently bought my first guitar and I have been studying my favorite songs through the realme Pad X. Whenever I pick up my instrument, I treat my tablet like Kindle — but for guitar chords.

I can also play some music while running different apps in the background, thanks to its power-efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G Processor. The device also comes with two Cortex-A78, six Cortex-A55 Cores and paired with an Adreno 619 GPU, so it’s also pretty steady for multitasking and casual gaming.

An audio champ

Perhaps my favorite feature, the realme Pad X is equipped with Dolby Atmos Quad Speakers with Hi-Res Certification and Adaptive Surround Sound. It gives a sound experience like no other.

As a heavy podcast listener (especially while doing house chores), I enjoyed streaming through my realme Pad X, most especially the video podcasts. The sound is very crisp and immersive, no need to connect the tablet to a Bluetooth speaker!

Bigger screen, yay!

Streaming my favorite shows through the realme Pad X gives an almost full cinema experience. The device features a 10.95” 2K Full View Display. The colors are bright and neat, and there’s a bigger screen to match. Not the best display out there, especially for 1080p and 4K videos, but still okay for a decent watch.

I love a big screen partnered with high quality audio — a great binge buddy whether I’m watching while sitting on my desk or while I’m snuggling in bed.

Overall, the realme Pad X is worth it as an additional device. It’s a great everyday companion as I juggle through different hobbies.

One thing I noticed, though, it somehow fails in the camera department. I don’t expect much in tablets, but the video quality didn’t deliver much especially during online meetings.

Regardless, it’s a great media device for people who want the combined advantages of a phone and laptop in a sleek, convenient package. And oh, did I mention it has 6 GB RAM and 128 GB memory? Yay for storage!

The last thing we all want is to be surrounded by mess. For me, it’s a good thing that keeping my home clean is doable even though I’ve got a hectic schedule that seemingly makes it impossible.

What’s in the box?

When the Dreame H12 wet & dry vacuum was handed to me, I felt thrilled to try it out! I always get intimidated by the idea of using large vacuum cleaners, but not with the Dreame H12.

It comes with user-friendly features and a wide array of accessories that would make doing chores bearable.

To begin with, there’s a charging base. It’s molded, so you can set the vacuum directly into a convenient socket. This base can be used both for charging and cleaning.

User-friendly features

As easy as clicking on the button at the top of the handle, the H12 will begin to clean the roller brush as thoroughly as possible, which is why the process takes around two minutes to complete.

Since it’s much easier to clean small areas like my studio apartment, having the upgraded edge-cleaning roller brush effectively deals with those hard-to-reach corners and baseboards freely.

The Dreame H12 has two modes: auto-mode and suction mode. In Auto mode, the cleaner automatically adjusts water and suction to the desired level depending on cleaning tasks.

In suction mode, it shuts off the mopping feature and only vacuums liquid without mopping. It also has this Smart Dirt Detection feature that identifies dirt and adjusts its suction power automatically.

You can also monitor the condition of the floor with the circular cleaning indicator around the screen. A smart LED screen that displays the cleaning status and clear voice prompts is beneficial for new vacuum owners like me.

A green light indicates light dirt while an orange light means there’s medium dirt present. A super dirty floor will prompt the ring to glow red.

Other features

Other features of the H12 can be monitored via the screen which also prominently displays the battery percentage. But you don’t need to rely on the display all the time as the H12 can audibly provide alerts since it has voice prompts as I’ve mentioned.

You’ll never be able to keep every single speck of dirt off the floor especially if you were running low on time. Partly, it takes a very long time until the roller from the wiping vacuum is dried. Thanks to the Wet and Dry Cleaning feature of Dreame H12 that removes wet or dry messes in one pass.

A good feature that I appreciate here is the absence of a dust bag, which is known to be a hassle to clean. Instead, all the dust, dirt, and grime get mixed with the water, so you just need to pour out the wastewater. H12 has two transparent containers built into it.

The top is a 900ml water tank for clean water, used for the mopping function. The bottom is a 500ml dirty water tank, which also serves as a dust hopper. Both tanks are easy to remove, refill, empty, and release with a simple latch.

Vacuuming

A filthy property can affect a person’s health. The nice thing about Dreame H12 is it does self-cleaning on the roller brush to avoid bacterial cross-contamination. It also self-dries the brush to prevent bacteria growth and odor.

It’s amazing how vacuuming the floor, cleaning up the kitchen, and straightening up clutter always improve my mood. Even if it’s just 15 minutes of my spare time, it does really feel good.

The instax mini Link is back for version 2.0 and it found its way to the Philippine archipelago. Now called the instax mini Link 2, the instax printer can still do whatever its predecessor can except for a variety of unique functions.

Draw in the air

There’s a new function called “instaxAIR” where users can ~literally~ draw in the air. Picture the times you hold your S-Pen when you’re drawing in the air around three years ago.

Using a dedicated app, you can apply an AR effect when taking pictures so you can add drawings or writings to the space. The device vibrates in line with its movements and plays sound with special effects that match the AR effect.

Moreover, the instax mini Link 2 lets you record the action of drawing using the instaxAIR. You can save the footage as a video, which you can easily share on social media like TikTok.

Make your moments colorful

Like its predecessor, the Link 2 still has the Match Test function, which is now enhanced with a “Go with your Instinct” mode where two people choose colors that match their mood. Their compatibility percentage and chosen colors are incorporated into their instax photo.

To add more color to your moments, Fujifilm is about to release a newly-designed instax mini film called Spray Art. The film features a vivid design with a spray-painted look. It will retail for PhP 400 in the local market starting July 28, 2022.

With all its features and very versatile design, things are about to change. It made me want to do the big switch to smartwatches ASAP. Let me tell you why. 

It makes a statement

Just one look at the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro and it screams premium quality. Its seamless titanium body and ceramic back case give it a very classy and sleek look. And its built resembles analog watches which I really like. 

Its titanium crown works as its power button as well as its scroll and zoom wheel. It not only looks mechanical but also feels like it too. With its haptic feedback, I still get the satisfying feeling of turning — just like that of an analog watch. 

The Watch GT 3 Pro sports a 1.43-inch AMOLED display perfectly paired with its sapphire crystal lens. It’s a vibrant and vivid display that makes its content visible even when outdoors. 

You may prefer the titanium bracelet on this Titanium edition. Perhaps even the 43-mm Ceramic Edition that’s claimed to be created for women. But personally, I would rather have this gray high quality leather strap variant as it blends easier with my array of outfits.

My beau would also love this wearable as it also suits men, while I can use his Huawei Watch Fit 2 on days that I feel like using a smaller but still featured-packed smartwatch. 

Still on its versatility, I can customize this with different watch faces I can choose from the watch itself. I can also pick from a myriad of faces to download via the Huawei Health App. This makes it easier to mix and match it with my style. The watch also features an Always On Display and what’s great about it is that for every watch face, a corresponding Always On Display appears. 

It definitely is a good-looking smartwatch that makes a big statement on my wrist. 

Helps you watch your health (pun intended)

These days, I’ve been so pumped up to hustle at work and have been preoccupied with passion projects that I sometimes tend to neglect my health. Gratefully, I have the GT 3 Pro to keep track of that as this watch brings health management to a whole new level. 

This smartwatch has a medical-grade ECG analysis app. It helps me stay informed about any heart health-related risks. An ECG is a test that can be used to check your heart’s electrical activity and rhythm. And to check using the GT 3 Pro, it’s as easy as holding on the ECG sensor button with my index finger for 30 seconds and it provides the summary of my heart condition. 

It also has an SpO2 and heart rate monitoring but what has been really useful for me are its stress and sleep monitoring that reminds me to take more rest and slow down when I’ve been overworking. 

The GT 3 Pro has also helped me to stay focused on my primary health goal of controlling my weight through its Health Living feature. This is Huawei’s way to track your daily health and fitness progress. I just had to set it up on my Huawei Health app and I was given a list of tasks and I can also receive reminders to help me reach my goal. 

The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro may not be a professional medical equipment but it was still great to have it as an easily accessible health indicator. 

Motivates you to squeeze fitness into your lifestyle 

During rare days when I have some free time, I’m tempted to just be lazy. But look at the Watch GT 3 Pro and I’m motivated to hop back into working out. 

Whatever workout I’d choose, this watch definitely has it. The watch can track over 100 workout modes. During my workouts, I was also getting audio guides from the AI fitness on the watch where I was given the information on my workout status.

I’ve also been planning to go swimming and I know I can freely do that even while wearing the GT 3 Pro. This comes with IP68, 5 ATM ratings for water resistance and can even record diving data. It also supports free diving for as deep as 30 meters so I can definitely use it for my swimming workout plan along with its swimming workout mode.

Has a software that lets you do more  

The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro runs on Harmony OS and it definitely gives you a smooth and great-looking interface. Whenever I need to jump from one feature to another, the watch’s fast responsiveness is really obvious. There are no discernable lags and navigation just feels easy.

With this software, I can access a number of thirty party apps that come in handy. There’s the Calculator and Petal Maps for navigation to name a few. I just had to download these via the AppGallery on the Huawei Health app. What’s great is you also get regular notifications so staying up-to-date is worry-free.

It also became easy to attend to important calls, send quick replies and view call logs via the GT 3 Pro’s notifications while it is connected to my smartphone. 

As someone who also likes listening to music while working out, the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro makes it easier for me. I get to listen to my BTS beats during my gym routine since I can add songs directly on the watch. Since the built-in speakers aren’t annoyingly loud, I can play my music without disturbing other gym goers. 

Packs a robust battery life that lets you go on and on

I must admit, I’ve become a bit forgetful these days. I don’t even remember to charge the GT 3 Pro but that isn’t a problem.

I’ve been really enjoying exploring this watch that I’ve been using it for my daily activities. And true to the brand’s promise, its battery lasts 8 days for heavy usage. But if you’re unlike me and you would just use it once in a while, the battery can most certainly last for more. 

Meanwhile, charging it is fairly quick with the wireless charging cradle that came with it. I took a nap for a little over an hour while leaving the GT 3 Pro charged and when I woke up, the battery was fully charged again. Talk about convenience.

See what’s possible

The roving exhibit definitely helped put things into perspective for possible buyers. With a beautifully designed kitchen right in the middle of BGC Central Square featuring a couple of possible configurations of the Samsung Bespoke line, it was much easier to imagine what it can look like in one’s own kitchen.

The Bespoke line uses a Digital Inverter Compressor to help keep your electricity bills low. You can also avoid the dreaded chore of regular defrosting as they’re all ‘No Frost’ units. Personally, I’m a fan of the 2-door model. I love the configuration of having a bottom freezer and the fact that it already has its own rack for chilling wine. A minor thing for some but it can be quite the priority for others.

Known for its hefty price tag, it’s still highly coveted due to its technology and ability to create different hairstyles without damaging one’s mane. Four years after it hit the market, Dyson released a new, upgraded version.

Is it time for Airwrap virgins to bite the bullet? Should current Airwrap owners upgrade their sets? Let’s discuss.

First, here’s everything that comes in the case once you get your Dyson Airwrap Complete for long hair.

Quick, pro blow-out at home

Something the Airwrap brought to the table when it first launched is the promise of salon-quality blowouts in the comfort of one’s home. The upfront expense, off-setting frequent salon visits for styling. Sure, there’s quite a learning curve with using the curling barrels.

However, once you do master how to make the Coanda effect work for you, styling one’s hair with the Airwrap becomes such a breeze. This, of course, continues with the upgrade.

While the body looks and feels similar, I must admit that it took me even less time to dry and style my hair with the newer version. I’ve been growing my hair, wanting to stick to a 70s blowout to go with my fringe and I was able to achieve precisely that. From wet to fab in 20 minutes. Who doesn’t love efficiency?

I have naturally curly hair and this style took me only 20 minutes! I also slept with a silk cap on and it still looked great the following day.

Coanda smoothing dryer

Airwrap users were feeling pretty left out when Dyson’s Supersonic Hairdryer got a flyaway attachment. If you’re someone who uses the Airwrap’s Firm and Soft brushes to straighten your hair, the flyaway attachment would have been the perfect finisher for your style.

This was addressed with the upgrade. In lieu of the pre-styling dryer attachment, we now get a Coanda smoothing dryer.

When straightening your hair, you can start and end with this attachment. It pre-dries and it can also tame fly-aways!

You can also use this to pre-dry your hair prior to styling. After all, you need your hair to still be a little wet for the Airwrap to work its magic. What’s different is that with just a quick turn of the cool touch tip, it can now act as your very own flyaway attachment. A nifty, two-in-one piece!

Attachment upgrades

While most of the attachments look familiar, there were quite a lot of tweaks in their respective departments as well. The Firm and Soft brushes employ enhanced Coanda airflow which attracts and aligns hair with increased control. They propel air along hair strands, for a smoother, straighter result.

During the media briefing, we were also assured that even attachments like the Round Volumizing Brushes were improved, allowing better airflow through the bristles.

For people with tighter curls (think 3A and above in the scale), Dyson also came out with a wide-toothed brush attachment that’s sold separately.

What’s extremely exciting though is what was done with the barrels. Now, there’s no need to keep switching from one barrel to another just to change the direction of the airflow. A quick turn of the cool-touch tips allows you to do just that, saving you more time when you do your hair.

Easier to store 

With that said, there’s no more need for two barrels of each size. With the new Airwrap, you only get two barrels – one thin, one thick. Fewer barrels also mean fewer attachments to store. The case of the new Airwrap is noticeably smaller and sleeker than its predecessor’s.

The case’s cover also fully comes off. I love how it makes taking the attachments easier from any side. However, one must be vigilant if you want to travel with your Airwrap in this case as the cover doesn’t lock into the body like the old one.

Sleeker and will take up less space.

Sustainability

It’s been quite common for tech companies to force users to upgrade to the next generation of their products. This, by producing newer accessories or essential peripherals that won’t work with the older versions of their products. It’s a business and they do need to keep making money.

However, one thing I really loved about the Airwrap’s upgrade is how Dyson took sustainability into consideration. Users of the older Airwrap can have the choice to only purchase the new attachments.

This is because the new attachments will still fit and work perfectly with the older version. Yes, even the Coanda smoothing dryer!

The rich copper and bright nickel colorway is such an elegant combination.

Frizz-free

Something I always loved about the Airwrap is how it’s able to keep frizz at bay by producing negative ions. This is something we totally need in the tropics, especially for ladies with wavy and curly hair. So it’s an essential yet often overlooked feature in hairstyling tools.

I got an affordable one that is highly recommended in the Facebook Group Home Buddies, and it was okay. It does the job. 

I use it more often than my normal household broom, so having a quality vacuum is a huge necessity for me. 

When the Dreame V12 Pro came to my doorstep, I was ecstatic. I am sure any clean freak would feel the same — it’s a cordless, battery-powered vacuum with a whopping suction power of 32,000 pa. Definitely a total upgrade from my previous one.

As someone who cleans every day, I excitedly put this product to the test.

So many functions!

Dreame V12 Pro comes with a wide array of accessories upon unboxing. It’s my first time trying out a cordless vacuum, let alone a multi-functional one, so I was carefully reading the manual while using it for the first few days. 

There’s a lot you can do with this powerful handheld vacuum cleaner – powerful enough to clean every corner of a whole unit. 

For instance, it can easily suck the collected dust on my keyboard, thanks to the brush accessory. There’s also the anti-mite brush for sofa and beds (this is heaven-sent, especially for fur parents), and the rigid rectangular nozzle which integrates a LED light to clean stubborn dirt such as cobwebs. 

For overall floor cleaning, the default suction brush is outstanding. It also comes with a 5-layer HEPA filter with 99% effective sterilization, which brings so much peace of mind especially that we’re still in a pandemic.

But don’t be intimidated; using the vacuum and trying all the attachments is actually as easy as pie. The Dreame V12 Pro has an easy lock function which requires less effort when detaching and shifting from one accessory to the next. It’s extremely handy and comfortable to use!

Very powerful suction

I mentioned earlier that it has a suction power of 32,000 pa. It’s one of the most competitive in the market, and is actually designed for deep cleaning. It can absorb micron-level dust, which makes it extremely powerful for both hard floors and carpets.

No worries, it uses smart adaptive technology so the suction level easily adjusts to the floor without worrying about overheating and your safety.

There was an instance that I accidentally dropped some condiments and a few rice pellets on the floor (I know, it was a clumsy day in the kitchen). I immediately got my Dreame V12 Pro to clean up the mess. My feet didn’t feel any evidence afterwards.

Another major problem for me is my tangled hair all over the room. A few weeks after using the product, there were less stands of hair on the floor, especially on areas not usually reached by a normal vacuum. I was enthralled.

I initially thought it will be great for large homes, but I highly recommend it for tight spaces. It has a high capability to remove dirt from every nook and corner.

The vacuum has three modes: Eco, Standard and Turbo. To save up on battery, I usually use the Eco mode with its good suction performance without taking too much battery energy. I sometimes switch to the Standard and Turbo mode during major cleaning days.

Elegant, user-friendly features

My least favorite thing about vacuums in general is having to empty the container. For me, it takes a lot of work especially because I keep on literally getting my hands dirty.

The Dreame V12 Pro features an easy to empty container and a simple grip mechanism that helps eject dirt without coming into contact with it. Additionally, the container has a huge capacity of 0.5L.

The product also features a trigger lock, which allows me to clean continuously and comfortably. 

The high quality LCD screen (which is actually one of my favorite features) provides real-time info on the battery life, suction power, and filter status. It also displays the three user modes.

Is the Deebot T9 worth the price tag? Should you replace your current vacuum with it? Allow me to give you a list of the things I loved about the vacuum and a few things you should be aware of before getting one.

It maps out your home

It was pretty interesting to see how the vacuum mapped out our home and planned its own cleaning routine based on that map. The best thing is you don’t have to be a real techie to handle it.

The app on your phone is pretty straight forward and since it gets to know your home through powerful sensors, the most you have to do is either schedule or start a cleaning program. You can even select which room you want to be cleaned!

It leaves your home smelling fresh

The Deebot T9 has a built-in air freshener that infuses the home with a clean, delicate fragrance as it moves. Our unit came with the ‘Wild Bluebell’ fragrance and I loved it. It’s not overpowering but it also leaves the room smelling fresh.

Other scent options are Cucumber & Oak and Bergamot & Lavender. Each capsule lasts up to 60 days before they need a replacement.

It empties itself

One of the major issues people with robot vacuums have is how often they have to empty the waste compartment. After all, having a robot instead of a handheld vacuum with a bag means its compartment is much smaller. Deebot’s solution is having its own Auto Empty Station which also serves as the device’s charging dock.

Once a cleaning cycle ends, the T9 makes its way to the dock and automatically empties itself, letting the dirt go into a convenient, 2.5 liter bag which ensures fewer trips to your waste basket.

But can it handle fur?

My dog Juancho is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi which means he’s quite the fur monster. This type of dog sheds all year round and that means we get corgi fur everywhere. Yes, it sucks the fur in quite well, picking it off tiled floors and even carpeted rooms easily. The main issue is that the fur gets stuck in the vacuum’s waste bin.

It docks into the Auto Empty Station and you hear the loud woosh supposedly taking the dirt from the vacuum to a convenient bag. However, when you check the vacuum’s waste compartment, all the fur is still in there. Not a deal-breaker but definitely a concern if you have a shedder for a pet. You can probably skip the Auto Empty Station as you’d still have to manually empty the T9 anyway.  

Control through the app

I can turn on the Deebot T9 to clean our home (while entertaining my dog) even when I’m outside and on the go. Since it maps out your home and uses the all-new TrueDetect 3D 2.0 technology, it’s able to easily detect obstacles that may come its way. A magazine that fell on the floor, dog toys left in corners. There are less chances of the T9 getting stuck so it’s able to complete cleaning even if you’re not there to watch it.

It mops your floors!

Ok, this isn’t the first robot vacuum to have this feature. However, it’s the first time I ever had a need for one that does this chore and I was thrilled with the convenience it brought! We have white, tiled floors in our living-slash-dining space so mopping is a part of life. Unless we want drool marks or a random paw print on the floor, mopping must be done quite regularly.

Thankfully, I have a husband who’s been into steam cleaning the floors before the Deebot T9 came in. The existence of this nifty addition to the family took a load off his back and now instead of mopping floors at night, we get more TV time together.

He treats his Bichon Frise dog as his friend 

We often see Park Seo Jun’s dog, Simba, on his social media posts so he was naturally asked about him. He said that he treats Simba more like his friend than his pet. He even joked that probably in dog years, they are of the same age.  Further, he shared that he doesn’t train Simba to do tricks since he doesn’t want him to be stressed but he definitely loves spending time with him. This really shows his affection for Simba. 

He thinks action on TV shows and in real life are very different 

When he was asked what was his secret as an actor, he said that action in real life and on TV differs in a way that the latter is more like choreography so he has to practice really well. And his secret was he quickly picks up on choreography and he actually enjoys the physical activity. This is also the reason why he played a lot of characters like Fight For my Way that involves a lot of action. 

He’d prefer to visit a vacation spot if given the chance soon 

During the hangout, Park Seo Jun reminisced about his visit to Boracay. So he was asked if he does want to be in a scenic vacation spot or a city when traveling for vacation. He said that it really depends from time to time but if given the chance now, he’d prefer to be in a vacation spot so he can relax. Fans would probably be looking forward to seeing his beach photos if that would really happen especially because of his physique. *wink wink*

His personal goal 

In a segment where Park Seo Jun was asked a question for each letter of his initials, he was asked about his personal goal in life. He said he has many goals but it all sums up to being a good person. They followed that up with a question on what his idea of a good person is.

Park Seo Jun said it’s someone who is a good influence, one who works well and also when it comes to family matters, someone who is a good son or daughter. He shared that he’s not blind to the fact that his fans are influenced by him so he lives up to the role of being a good influencer. 

He likes hanging out with his family 

On the same segment, he was asked where he stays the most at home and he said he likes staying in the living room. He currently lives with his parents so he likes staying there so he gets to see them and spend time with them while eating or watching TV. He makes up for lost time through that since he barely gets to see them when he’s filming a new project. Now doesn’t that show he’s really a good and sweet son? 

He found his role in What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim so exciting 

During one part of the hangout, he was shown an excerpt of his role in What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim and he got so embarrassed. He said that his narcissistic role on the show is the total opposite of his personality. Nevertheless, he found the role very exciting and fun to portray since he was able to try a lot of things and had fun with his character. 

He likes to keep a fun and enjoyable environment on set 

Park Seo Jun was also asked about his romantic comedy Kdrama She Was Pretty and he shared that there were a lot of scenes where they were laughing and goofing around. So he was asked if he’s the kind of person who is laughing all the time or someone who makes others laugh.

He shared that he doesn’t make others laugh because he figured out that when he tries to do so, it doesn’t really come off as funny. But he insisted that he’s still someone who makes sure that the environment on set is fun and enjoyable for the people he’s working with. 

His fans’ love and support gets him going 

Some fans gave really heartwarming messages for Park Seo Jun that he was so moved by all of it. He said that everything that’s been happening to him and he’s been blessed with was made possible because of his fans and that their love and support is what really motivates him and keeps him going. 

He had always wanted to be an actor 

Park Seo Jun was asked in one of the segments what job he would have if he were not an actor. He really pondered about it and wasn’t able to give an answer because he admitted that he wanted to be an actor ever since he was young. But he also said that he’s not closing his doors to doing something else other than acting.

He considers a few things before saying yes to an acting role  

During the hangout, Park Seo Jun’s different acting roles were discussed so he was asked what he considers when choosing a project. He shared that before, it was just character-related but now, he considers if it is entertaining and fun for the viewers and he also thinks it’s important to think about the message it’s trying to convey to the viewers. 

He has two upcoming films

Fans are definitely elated to see Park Seo Jun back on Kdramas or better yet on the big screen so he was asked about his upcoming projects. One he has on the pipeline is his movie “Dream” which they still need to finish filming in England and will be coming out soon. He also has another movie “Concrete Utopia” which he filmed in Korea. He has also shot to global fame having been cast in the upcoming Marvel movie.

The instax Link WIDE helps bridge the present and the past by allowing you to print memories stored in your smartphone. It’s just like the instax mini Link I reviewed two years ago.

I could probably tell you the same things I wrote in my story before, but the experience is still quite different.

This instant printer is boxy and humongous when compared to the mini Link. It’s sturdier, thicker, wider, and heavier. Of course, the size is the prominent change but what I like is being able to print in wider, landscape-oriented films.

Pretty much like the ones from Polaroid, souvenir stamps, and postcards.

Navigating the device is simple and easy if you’re familiar with instant printers. Press the power button on the front — which has instax’s logo printed — to turn it on. On its back, you can find the film door where you can place your landscape-oriented film.

Upon shutting the film door, the printer takes out the excess film. So, be careful about opening the door once more lest you consume one of your films. A grim reminder that sometimes, doors from the past aren’t meant to be opened.

Any way you want it

Like I said before, the instax Link WIDE prints photos stored in your smartphone. To do that, you just need to connect the printer via Bluetooth and by pairing it with a dedicated app.

Through the app, you can determine how many films are still available and the battery capacity of the device. Apart from the status of the instax Link WIDE, the app allows you to play with your prints.

You can use the simple print mode to churn out the photo instantly, or you can use an editable template print that lets you edit the colors and text of various templates. Yes, you can also create your own templates if you want them to be more personal.

Frankly, I’m not fond of these templates since they look tacky and don’t fit my aesthetic. But of course, there are people who’d love to use stickers and other templates especially when they’re in a hurry to print their memories. To each his own.

There’s also a collage print that helps you put together two images in one print. Then, there’s the Sketch, Edit & Print option where you can write or draw something on the image, and customize it to your liking before you print it.

When past meets present meets future

Clicking the settings icon can brings you a plethora of settings that you’d want to maximize. For example, the Print Mode options are handy for toning the prints.

Using instax-Natural mode can give your prints a saturated yet classic look. Meanwhile, instax-Rich mode will print out photos with deep and immersive colors.

There’s so much to unpack here, but thank heavens, it’s not feelings. Nevertheless, I’m glad the dedicated app works seamlessly this time around. Compared to previous apps developed by Fujifilm for their instax cameras and printers, which were buggy and unstable.

In a way, the instax Link WIDE was able to bridge the memories of the past and the stability and connectivity of the future in the present.

A rare experience to remember it all too well

During the course of my experience with the instax Link WIDE, I was preparing for a holiday reunion with my almost-decade-old friends. People who helped me crawl out of that depressive rabbit hole.

Not wanting to let go of the only moment we will be able to come together after being away for two years, I printed my favorite moments with certain people and embedded a QR — which can hold voice clips, hidden messages for friends, and even a location pin to direct people.

Bin clean up

The frame does allow for a smaller bin, making trips to the wastebasket a little more often. It does, however, make it easy on the hands with an ejection mechanism and a rotary catch, to drive out dust in one smooth action. A silicone collar wipes down the mesh shroud to drive out dust without dirtying your hands.

Which latest release should you get? It really depends on your cleaning style. Fans of the V-series tend to go for deeper cleans that happen once a week or so. The new smartphone printer is bigger than the instax mini Link we had during the holidays two years ago. Aside from its larger build, it comes with new features that every sentimental tech-savvy would be delighted to explore.

What it retained is the ability to print 100 photos on a single charge and its Bluetooth-compatible setup that lets you easily print photos from your own smartphone. For those who own and use the Fujifilm X-S10 digital camera, the instant printer is also now compatible.

Making it more personal

The new instax WIDE film is twice the size of the instax Mini. When printing, you can choose between two modes: instax-Rich for deep and immersive colors, and instax-Natural for a saturated yet classic look. Its landscape-oriented films are now available in a black design as well, priced at PhP 660.

You can also make your photographs personalized using the features found on instax Link WIDE’s dedicated app. There’s a QR Print Mode that can hold voice clips, add hidden messages for friends or a location pin, or direct people to visit your website.

Furthermore, there are editable templates that let you add text, sketches, color, and stickers. You can also utilize the Collage Print feature so you can print more images in one template.

Price and availability

The instax Link WIDE retails for PhP 8,999 and comes with a free pack of film. There are two colors to choose from: Ash White or Mocha Gray.

Thankfully, those days are over. Since smartphones with a 3.5mm headphone jack are getting rare, I took a leap out of my comfort zone to finally switch to a pair of wireless earbuds.

Scouring the market for a good pair that won’t make a dent out of my pocket can be daunting. What caught my eye was a familiar name I’ve known for years, and I discovered a pair — the Nokia E3500 — that begs to be given a chance.

Love at first touch

The first time I held the Nokia E3500, it felt premium and sleek despite having a charging case made out of plastic. What furthered its elegance were the featherweight material that makes it easy to carry, as well as its matte finish that makes you want to glide your fingers incessantly.

In a nutshell, the Nokia E3500 displayed a blend of practicality and sophisticated design.

The “getting to know” part

I found comfort in using the Nokia E3500. Out of the box, it comes with three pairs to help you find your perfect pair. And when you do, it won’t fall off your ear.

I even brought the E3500 on a beach trip to Liwliwa, Zambales — which was kinda risky since it only has an IPX5 resistance. Luckily, it was secure enough to fit in my ear even if I kept running and jumping.

Pairing the Nokia E3500 is easy. Once out of the case, you can press the touch buttons for two seconds to enter pairing mode. The inclusion of Ambient Mode helps me immerse in the content, especially when situated in a noisy environment. I found that keeping volume to about 60 percent seemed like the right choice to enjoy its audio performance.

Sound isolation is great, too. Imagine sitting by the beach, listening to music while also hearing the sound of splashing waves. Happy and dreamy, isn’t it?

Quarrels

Everything has its rough side, including this seemingly perfect pair of wireless earbuds. Using the Nokia E3500 during my Zoom calls isn’t as smooth and seamless as it should be when listening.

There are few delays with the microphone reception, making it a little annoying when I’m in the middle of a virtual presentation. Hopefully, the next iteration will improve the inconsistent microphone.

Is this my perfect pair?

For a mediocre audiophile like me, I would say yes to Nokia E3500. The charging case itself has a 360mAh battery which helps extend its battery life. Who wouldn’t want an uninterrupted sound trip especially during a long drive?

My experience isn’t as perfect as I thought it would be. But it’s decent and fine. The Nokia E3500 looks gorgeous, equipped with long battery life, great audio quality, and water resistance for peace of mind.

There are cheaper options available in the market, but for what it’s worth — I’d call it a steal, especially for all the features you can enjoy for its price tag.

The Luxe is not my first Fitbit having owned my now ancient Charge 2 then an Alta HR sequestered from my husband who wore it for a month then got tired of it because it didn’t go well with his suits. 

I wore both fitness bands with pride and as a way for me to send a message that I was now taking my health a little seriously. However, they often looked out of place with most of my outfits. Wearing them to events that had a bit of a more formal dress code always looked awkward. I even thought of wearing a classy watch on my left arm and the Fitbit on the right just to make it work at some point. However, even the smaller Alta HR made me look like I was coming straight from a run.

Form & substance

A common complaint about the Luxe is how small the screen is. Personally, I don’t see it as an issue. I enjoy the size which makes it inconspicuously stylish. Sure, it has a function for you to quickly take a peek at your texts, even read them in full. But who still sends novel-length texts these days? Mine’s usually from delivery services just telling me to pick up my orders. Though I won’t mind getting more notifications from other messaging apps that I have on my phone.

The size also makes it look like a truly elegant timepiece as soon as you slap on a metal strap. I originally wanted the lunar white and soft gold combination but ended up with the orchid (pink) and platinum stainless steel. At first, I was a bit wary of the pink, thinking it might look rather juvenile on me. But it worked out in the end. It’s a lovely shade that I don’t mind wearing with most of my activewear. 

I actually bought myself a gold milanese strap online, similar to the ones I used with my older Fitbit models. They’re pretty inexpensive and are available on sites like Amazon and Shopee. The silver hardware on my Luxe also gave me more freedom to mix my metals within my outfit, instead of getting tied down to a gold-on-gold combo. Fitbit also has their own gold, metal strap. You pay a little more for it but it can be a justifiable investment if it will make sure you don’t have to take off the Luxe whenever you need to dress a little more formally.

The Luxe tracks your workouts, your steps, and even your oxygen levels as you sleep. It even has multiple watch faces to match your outfits. My personal choice is the ‘Vogue’ which shows the time in pastel pink and green. Très chic.

Swimming

My favorite thing about the Luxe has to be the fact that it can now be used to track your swimming as well. It’s something both the older models I owned didn’t have. Sadly, the pandemic has rendered most pools closed, even in our building. I did get to dip my unit in water to check its water lock mode which stops the water from accidentally controlling your screen. It worked really well and my unit survived the quick dip.

We’ll let you know how it fares in the pool or the beach once the IATF relaxes its guidelines. So far, however, this wearable is looking pretty good on that front too.

Fitbit Premium

The Luxe also comes with six months of Fitbit Premium. The personalized subscription service on the Fitbit App opens up a whole new world for one’s fitness goals. It gives you advanced analytics on your sleep data, recipe inspirations, as well as video workouts.

As someone who has the Peloton app, I have to admit that it’s still my go-to for my home workouts, even on exercises that go beyond cycling. Though their guided programs that help you in your other goals like kicking your sugar habit, learning how to do a push-up, and even getting more sleep, are such great additions to your self-improvement plans.

Though I must admit that my favorite among the premium features is how it can give you a comprehensive wellness report upon request. The only requirement is that you have to be using your Luxe for about a month. The report shows you your average heart rate, average steps and sedentary moments, sleep, and menstrual cycles, as well as your heart rate zones.

Great battery life

The Luxe promises about 5 days of battery life but mine usually goes a little over than that. There are times when I go up to a week without charging and I’m someone who tries to workout every other day for about 30-45 minutes and I walk an average of six thousand steps. I know, I could use some more. I also wear the Fitbit to sleep as I enjoy seeing my sleep metrics. 

Speaking of sleep, its size really makes it easier to wear the Luxe to bed. From a more practical point of view, the Luxet doesn’t dig into the skin – it’s the most comfortable tracker I’ve ever worn. 

Is the Fitbit Luxe your GadgetMatch?

Personally, I think I’ve found the one when it comes to fitness trackers. Ever since I received the Luxe, the only times it left my wrist was for a charge. It does the job without being too invasive when it comes to my daily life – outfits included.
